The strength of Griever, that which he admires above all else.
The cross in which the lion’s head rests proves to be a symbol — signifying the acceptance of death, suffering, or sacrifice — all of which he is most familiar. He’s felt a pain like no other which has led him to unfortunate isolation.
The lion itself signifies dignity and courage, traits that he strives to obtain for himself. Strength and pride are characteristics that he’s applied to himself so that he has to rely on no one but himself. After all, through the years since childhood — that’s all he’s ever had.
This mighty symbol that rests just against his chest just above that steady and strong heartbeat proves to be all the encouragement that he needs to keep moving forward.
When he is weak, he only needs to remember that strength. When he is on his knees with ragged breaths, he only needs to remember the courage he draws from that pendant while his hand is wrapped tightly around its form.
He strives to be something great and proud like a lion when he is only a man.
